The Blue-purple Bellflower (Nesocodon mauritianum) is a rare endemic plant from the island of Mauritius became a legend in the late 1980ies when it was found to produce red nectar. Before, botanists exclusively spoke of nectar as clear sugar water. The plant produces spherical pollen grains with spikes.
